Oldfields School is a girls' day and boarding school in Sparks, Maryland, in what's fondly known as Maryland's "Horses and Hounds" area. With under 50 students, everyone gets personalized attention in everything they do, with a focus on Equine Science and the Arts. We combine rigorous academics with strong arts, athletics, and experiential programs like riding and leadership initiatives so girls grow into confident, capable, and compassionate young women.Our signature Experimental Externships happen every Wednesday, taking a full day for professional experience. Students choose either an Equine or Arts externship and engage in hands-on experiences like visiting veterinary surgery, or making stained glass. This program connects classroom learning to the real world, offers mentorship, and lets students explore future career paths while building confidence, creativity, and initiative.We are the only high school in the country to offer Equine Science Microcredentials, giving students the chance to start working in the equestrian world while still in high school and continue through college.
